NEED TO KNOW about Cross Country Running

WE WILL RUN...EVERY AFTERNOON, AFTER SCHOOL
FROM 4PM UNTIL 5PM, RAIN OR SHINE, if canceled I will send a REMIND 101, and will make an announcement at school!!!!!

Welcome to York Cross Country!

I'm glad your athlete has chosen to participate this year. You should find here what you need to know for this season:  Practice Info, Meet Info, & General Info.

Practice Information:

The first practice will be Wednesday, August 24th, at 4:00pm after our informational meeting. We will practice every afternoon unless otherwise specified. (I occasionally have to attend district meetings, department meetings, etc.) Rain does not matter! We will work out in the hallways and gyms. We will run mostly in and around the York/Cox campus. Occasionally, we may go off campus, usually mid-week, and run around the Bender's Landing lake and we may venture around the subdivision. Ipods/Iphones may be brought for AFTER school runs only.

Needs for practice: Water, good/comfortable running shoes. Watches with a stop watch are great too! I have stop watches, but the runner has to wear them around the neck or carry them. Wear comfortable, SCHOOL APPROPRIATE running clothes.

Meet Information:

Schedules will be sent home and on the web site, as well as the directions. Transportation will be provided to and from all meets, except for the Oak Ridge meets. Runners may be signed out after they finish their race, but are highly encouraged to stay and watch their teammates if possible! You may only take your runner home from a meet. If you are taking another student home, you may do so after picking them up from York.

The “usual” order of events are as follows:

7th GIRLS, 7th BOYS, 8th GIRLS, 8th BOYS

I usually send home a meet information sheet, a day or so before the meet, with the schedule attached.  Just know that CC is a funny sport, I think, as far as organization goes...things can change in a minute! Occasionally races will be combined and for many reasons.

Uniforms will be issued to each runner and they are to be returned at the end of the season.

General Information:

Check the web site for any and all information. If what you are looking for is not there, contact me at sdorsey@conroeisd.net. I look forward to the season!!!!
