Hello students and families, my name is Katie Wells and I am thrilled to be an art teacher at York Junior High!  This will be my eighth (and hopefully the best) year of teaching and I can't imagine having any other career.  I truly love what I do and work very hard to share what I know about art and art history with each and every student...regardless of their previous experience with the arts.

About Me
I am not originally from Texas,  but I got here as soon as I could!  My father was in the military so our family moved several times growing up, however I spent the majority of my life living outside of Denver, CO.  I attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO (Go Rams!) where I earned a B.A. in Art Education.  There I explored many different media including painting (oil and acrylic), drawing, sculpture, pottery, photography, printmaking, fibers, and more!  I was the art teacher at a K-6 public charter school outside of Denver and I loved it!  I thought I would teach there forever.....until I had the amazing opportunity to be in the Houston area. When I first moved to Texas I taught 6-8 grade art at a middle school in Spring Branch ISD.  After living in The Woodlands for a few years now, I am never leaving!  Being from Colorado, I love being surrounded by all the beautiful scenery.  I have a 7 year old son named Weston who is a second grader at Snyder Elementary.  When I am not at school I love to travel, cook (but really just eat), watch movies, laugh with my family, and be creative!!!

It's a great day to be in CISD!...and an even better day to be at YORK!!!

My schedule is as follows:

1st Period: Art I
2nd Period: Yearbook (in lab 122)
3rd Period: PLANNING
4th Period: Art I
5th Period: Art I
6th Period: Art I
7th Period: Art I
